Belarus has chances to get into the thirty countries with the best business climate according to the methodology of the World Bank «Doing Business Report» already by 2012. The progress may be achieved without changing the foundations of economic policy course carried out by the government. This is the main conclusion of the analytical report distributed by the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISS).

Authors of the report evaluated changes in the legislation that entered into force at the time of the survey, and proposed a range of measures to enable the Government to perform a task of radically improving the World Bank ratings, formulated by President Alexander Lukashenka in 2008.

The monitoring continues the ongoing review of the implementation of the Plan of priority actions to liberalize the conditions for economic activities approved by the order of prime minister Siarhej Sidorski on December 1, 2008 № 39/2004, as well as of general measures aimed at the liberalization of society and declared by President of the Republic of Belarus.

On the eve of the election season 2010-2011, the issue of the correspondence of the Belarusian electoral legislation to the  international norms and democratic standards becomes particularly relevant. Belarus Public Policy Fund (BPPF) presents the work of Sergei Alfer, who analyzed the norms of the Belarusian electoral legislation with the amendments introduced in late 2009, and identified the reasons why the democratic community and international experts do not recognize our laws consistent with generally accepted international electoral standards.

The preparation for privatization continued in 2010 with changes in the legislative framework and corporatization of the enterprises, but the actual volume of the sales decreased. The privatization process will undergo major corrections in 2010.
