The third annual conference of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies carried out under the title ‘Belarus’s Path in Europe’ in Minsk successfully concluded on 10 February 2010.  Being held in Minsk for the first time, BISS conference turned into the real platform for a dialogue between all the sides concerned about the future of Belarus and shaping this future with its decisions and actions. The conference brought together representatives of the government and the opposition, official and non-governmental NGOs and press, independent analysts and representatives of government research centers and universities, National Academy of Sciences and leading European think tanks,  experts from Moscow and Brussels.

Conference ‘Belarus’s Path in Europe’ concluded with the final panel ‘The Way ahead: The Eastern Partnership as a framework for Belarus-EU relations’.

We are proceeding with the key-moments from the discussions that are taking place in the framework of BISS annual conference ‘Belarus’s path in Europe’, held in Minsk’s Crown Plaxa Hotel, today, Feb.10.

The conference ‘Belarus’s Path in Europe’, organized by BISS is taking place in Minsk, today. The third panel ‘The economic context: Belarus and the EU, and the Global Economic Crisis’ was dedicated to the adjustment of the country’s economy to the global economic crisis.

The second day of the Third BISS conference started with the discussion regarding the ways for Belarus to achieve energy independence.

The experts from Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, and the UK shared their views on the perspectives of energy politics in the region.

For the first time, BISS holds its annual conference in Minsk. Throughout the first day of the event, the experts from the EU, Russia and Belarus were hotly debating the country’s place in the new geopolitical realms.
